Fresh off a successful and well received national tour, The Comedy Revolution Festival is booked for Durban in July.
Running from the 10th-20th July 2008 at the Catalina Theatre on Wilson’s Wharf the festival is a showcase of the best in cutting-edge local stand-up as well as 3 International comedians. The ‘Revolution’ which has just completed a 17 show tour in seven of South Africa’s nine provinces – setting a record in stand-up in RSA – makes a ten day stop off in Durban where stand-up comedians rotate on the bills and bring Durban, SA’s biggest and longest laughs on a word-class scale. The promoters hand-pick performers not only on stage skill, but material and prowess. This results in Comedy Revolution bills being extremely cutting-edge, thought-provoking and entertaining – as witnessed in the recent national tour.

The Comedy Revolution Tour, May/June 2008.
The Comedy Revolution Tour, billed as “Geographically Africa’s longest, most cutting edge stand-up tour”, runs from the 14th May through to the 7th June 2008. Featuring 3 international acts as well as 6 of SA’s finest comedians. The tour starts in the Cape, continuing along the coast up to KZN, proceeding thereafter to JHB and the Freestate and finishing in Cape Town. The aim is to develop and unite the comedy scene in South Africa by taking these shows to towns that many performers bypass and staging a stand-up show set at an international standard.
The promoters for the tour are Martin Evans (Cape Town) and Glen Bo (KZN), who are both international comedians based in South Africa. Their passion and determination to develop South African Comedy is the basis on which this tour has been driven. The tour prides itself on being the longest stand-up tour in South Africa, featuring award-winning and international acts who have come together to achieve the same goal.
The international acts featured in the show are Glen Bo ( recent nominee in the KZN Arts Awards in the “Best Comedian” and after years abroad touring runs comedy shows and clubs in KZN), Martin Evans ( winner of numerous new-act awards in the U.K and aslo very well traveled, based in the Cape he promote’s various comedy clubs and shows) .Martin Davis out from the UK (a stand-up veteran and legend abroad) as well as six other acts – who rotate on the bills. These comedians are joined by the cream of the crop and cutting edge new acts from around RSA, namely, Brendan Murry(CPT), Marty Kintu (JHB): Simmi Areff (KZN), Lil Paul (KZN) and Jan Badenhorst (KZN).
