( Margate & Toti)
Returning to Margate’s Cock & Tail after a sell-out show earlier in May, the comedians add another date to the South Coast calender at Amanzimtoti’s Lords & Ledgends.
Fresh off two national tours and a festival in July at the Catalina Theatre in Durban, the Comedy Revolution is South Africa’s longest geographical comedy tour. Promoting the KZN Leg of the ‘Revolution’ is award-winning stand-up and promoter -Glen Bo.
The line-up includes:
Host: Martin Evans (CT) Born in Slough in England, but raised in RSA, Martin is one of RSA’s hardest working comedians. Winner of numerous competitions in the UK and now based in Cape Town, he hosts the evening. Martin is the promoter for the Cape Leg of the ‘Comedy Revolution’.
Simmi Areff (KZN) a new face on the scene but making huge impressions on crowds, Simmi recently was a regular at the Catalina Festival for the Revolution. He’s an effervescent Muslim act with great charisma.
Mum-z (JHB) was born in Diepkloof, Soweto and raised in Sandton, JHB. He opened for the Comedy Revolution comedians in their JHB tour and was invited down to perform.
Glen Bo (KZN) Born in Mooinooi but cut his teeth in London and around the U.K circuit for 5 years.. Recently he performed at the Playhouse with John Vlismas and Marc Lottering and has been nominated for 3 comedy awards this year. He won ‘best solo promoter’ and achieved nominations for ‘best comedian in KZN’ and ‘ most innovative stand-up’ in the SA Comedy Industry Awards. Glen pulls no punches, does serious stand-up and lovers of intelligent quips and flights of surrealism are always in for a treat.
Dave Levinsohn (CT) Quick witted, versatile and famously funny David, 2004 winner of the Pro section in the Comedy All Stars Grand Slam performed at the Comedy Café in London in October of that year! David has appeared in the Smirnoff International Comedy Festival since 1997, and hosted the “Newcomers” slot at the Smirnoff Comedy Festival 1998. His television experience includes playing the man in the M-Web “Big Black Box” and other ads, a starring role in the travelogue “Going Nowhere Slowly” in 2003, and being the runner up to Alyn Adams (by a short hair!) on the comedy celebrity charity episode of The Weakest Link.
